Sheltie Rescue of Central Indiana

Mikey is a sweet, laid back boy who loves attention. He loves to be outside running with is foster fur siblings, going for walks or just laying around soaking up the fresh air. He does not show any real interest in plush toys, but in true sheltie fashion he will chase/play with a tennis ball. Mikey is great about coming when called no matter where he is or what he's doing. He knows how to use the doggie door to let himself in and out but will whine if he needs to potty and thinks the door is closed. Mikey is very good and does not need to be crated when left home alone. He usually hangs out in his favorite spot on the couch while we're gone. During the night he prefers to sleep on a dog bed or the floor, he shows no interest in trying to jump into bed with the humans.

Mikey does have allergies and arthritis on his back end. He is currently on apoquel, carprofen and a salmon food diet. He came in with an ear infection and a bacterial infection on his skin and some missing hair due to allergies running unchecked. His ears and skin infection are both cleared up and his hair is growing back nicely. He may not need to be on apoquel for the long term but will probably need OTC allergy medicine. He came into rescue weighing 29.5 pounds but has managed to loose 4 pounds with diet and exercise, he could stand to loose a couple of more pounds.
