Meet Barney!
This 3.5 yr old (best estimate) Bi-black Sheltie apparently had a rough start to his young life. He came to us from a hoarding situation, living in a stall with 4 other Sheltie guys. We don't know anything prior to that. What we do know is that he is anxious when it is time to eat and only eats in his crate as long as it is open. He is food driven enough to allow a leg tap for a cheese puff if there is no eye contact. He has learned to catch a toy and bring it back. Barney has terrible separation anxiety and has destroyed furniture in his foster home when he is left. To overcome his fears, Barney is with a trainer and seems to be making progress in order to be eligible for adoption and begin the new life he deserves.

Update: Barney has been in training for 8 weeks and now has leash obedience. He knows sit, down, and recall on leash. He is anxious and likes his personal space but loves to run in the yard and relax in his crate. He would be great with a female adult or with older children in their teens. He is crate trained and should be crated when unattended to avoid any anxious behaviors. Hand feeding during the first two weeks would be great to create a bond and trust. He is also good with cats, avoidant with other dogs and doesn't really engage but not aggressive. He loves pup cups and scrambled eggs.
