Lovey is a 6 year old double merle. This means that she has the genetic defects due to bad breeding. The vet has estimated she is 95% deaf and 97% blind. She can see some shadows and will wake up when the parrot in her foster home squawks. Lovey does not let this slow her down. One of her cooping mechanisms is to spin in place. This seems to be for two purposes, one when she is learning her surroundings and the second when she is super excited. She LOVES to be loved on and will dance when she gets pets. There is a doggie door and fully fenced yard at her foster home as well as other blind/deaf dogs. Within a couple of days, Lovey learned how to navigate from the yard into the house and to her preferred spot in the living room. It is taking a little longer for her to make the connection she can go outside on her own, though she has been seen making her way from her preferred spot in the living room through the house to the back door. She is slowly learning about toys as well and seems to be smitten with a flattened water bottle for now.
